In this Challenge, you are asked to explore the ‘breaking barriers’ theme that is clearly articulated in the 2020 National History Day Contest. In three minutes or less, design and produce a straight up documentary style. But in your remaining minute, apply that narrative to a current barrier that you believe needs to be broken or should remain intact. In short, what can we learn from the story that you have chosen to tell that can be applied to current societal or natural barriers that exist today? Think technology. Think the environment. Think global politics. Think gender, race, ethnicity and class. Think immigration. This is a theme rich with possibilities!
