Description
What is happening 2 R writing?!?! With the inundation of social media into our everyday lives a new language, or at the very least a new syntax, has developed. Words like LOL, TTYL and ROFL have crept into our writing and our conversations. Is this harmful or benign? Is the rise of texting an obstacle to bringing fully literate youth into the workforce? Or is the rise of texting a powerful tool to bringing newly literate youth into the workforce? This is what your team has to contemplate. This challenge focuses on students’ ability to analyze informative content and then take a position, and defend that position, in a confined time allowance. Beginning with two excerpts from online periodicals that lay out the two sides, analyze the paragraphs and agree or disagree with the claims they make. There are some constraints, however. The video must be no more than 120 seconds and your team is only allowed three edits. In other words: four shots, three cuts. Ready? Go!
